The SAM and HPC 2.0 combination is a  layering system developed by Labocosmetica in Italy. This duo is PFAS-free and designed specifically to withstand global harsh environmental conditions; from road salt and grit to industrial fallout and bird lime. SAM and HPC can be applied by experienced enthusiasts and weekend warriors as well as professionals.

The synergy between SAM and HPC 2.0 can provide a verified protection lifespan of up to 4 years or 60,000 km*, based on real-world testing in environments ranging from harsh Northern European winters to tropical humidity.

SAM (Self-Assembled Monolayer) - The Foundation

SAM is the essential foundation of the system. It is an 80% chemical and 20% physical coating that uses molecular self-organisation to anchor itself to the paintwork.

  • Chemical & UV Barrier: SAM acts as the primary shield against UV rays and aggressive chemicals. It protects the paint from permanent damage caused by bird guano, acid rain, and road salt.
  • Limescale Resistance: Its 20% physical component is specifically formulated to resist limescale abrasions and water spot etching.
  • The Anchor: It creates a stable, chemically bonded base that ensures the top coat (HPC 2.0) adheres perfectly for long-term durability.

HPC 2.0 (Hybrid Polysiloxane) - The Top Coat

HPC 2.0 is designed to be layered over SAM to provide the final "wet look" finish and superior surface silkiness.

  • Abrasion Resistance: Unlike traditional coatings, HPC 2.0 uses elastic polymers to resist scratches and swirl marks, particularly those caused during hand washing and valeting.
  • Superior Silkiness: The ultra-smooth, low-friction finish means dirt and grime struggle to stick, creating a significant self-cleaning effect.
  • "I Forgive You" Technology: A highly user-friendly formula that allows you to correct application errors or "high spots" even several hours later—vital for mobile detailers or those working on large panels.
  • Multi-Surface Use: Perfectly safe for paint, wheels, external plastics, and wraps (including matte and PPF), where it enhances colour depth without adding artificial shine.

Note for Matte Finishes: This system is highly effective on matte paint and wraps; it intensifies the colour depth and provides full protection without adding an unwanted artificial gloss.

Application & Curing Sequence

Preparation: The surface must be fully decontaminated, polished to remove existing defects, and completely degreased. Use Labocosmetica VERITAS (diluted 1:5) to wipe down the panels before you begin. This step is essential for the chemical bond to form.

Stage One: SAM (Whole Car): Apply SAM in sections (approx. 50x50 cm) using the provided applicator and microsuede cloth. Allow it to sit for 2–5 minutes until small bubbles or rainbow streaks appear, then buff off with a clean microfibre. You must complete the entire vehicle with SAM and ensure it is fully buffed before moving to the next stage.

Stage Two: HPC 2.0: Once the SAM layer is finished across the whole car, you may begin applying HPC 2.0. Follow the same sectional application (50x50 cm) and buffing process. HPC 2.0 can be applied directly over the fresh SAM layer.

Curing

  • Initial Cure: Keep the vehicle dry and away from humidity for at least 12 hours.
  • Total Cure: Full chemical hardening takes 36 hours.
  • Maintenance: Do not wash the car with any chemicals for the first 7 to 10 days after application. Use Labocosmetica PRIMUS and SEMPER for general maintenance washes and add Labocosmetica PURIFICA to the process for decontamination (3pH process)

*Durability Information

The #Labocosmetica coatings were subjected to different stress tests first in the laboratory and then directly in the field thanks also to the collaboration of different international detailers.

We have selected the cities with the most extreme climatic conditions in the world: Dubai (United Arab Emirates) for the scorching heat and its sandstorms, Delhi (India) and Manila (Philippines) for the suffocating smog and the tropical heat, Moscow (Russia) and Gothenburg (Sweden) for the cold and the road conditions, in addition to the major European capitals where the climatic and road conditions are certainly more normal.

It should be noted that for the entire duration of the tests it was not always possible to comply with the coating maintenance program recommended by us.

This allowed us to verify the condition of the treated surface in the worst situation.

With the results of the numerous tests we have made a weighted average where it can be seen that one year of life of our coatings is approximately 15,000 km.
